Emirates Skywards miles are an excellent form of currency in the United Arab Emirates, particularly for those who reside in or near Dubai.
There are a number of UAE banks that offer their customers a co-branded Skywards credit card.
Under normal circumstances, there are three options for this card: Infinite, Platinum and Signature.
Anyone who has one of these cards can earn Skywards miles in a variety of ways, such as with a sign-up or renewal bonus, spending on Emirates, or domestic and international spending.
There can also be other perks on some cards, including the likes of complimentary membership of Skywards Silver.
The same miles can be earned either by booking a flight with a travel agent or straight from Emirates.
However, direct booking can be a better idea for two reasons.
First, those who own a co-branded Skywards credit card will find that many of the cards provide a much higher earning rate when booked direct – booking with a travel agent is classified as regular spending.
Second, Emirates also has a number of different categories of fares in all service classes, such as Deal, Saver, Flex, Flex Plus and Special.
The miles earned will be different for every category, even when the difference in fares is negligible.
The My Family programme was relaunched by Emirates last year.
With this programme, up to eight members of your family can be pooled, including yourself.
Every member of the pool can contribute as much as 100% of all earned miles to the programme.
This is a great way to accelerate earnings for people who always travel with their family.
On 15th July this year, Emirates Skywards and Marriott Bonvoy relaunched the World Rewards Program in the UAE, allowing newcomers to sign up as elite members and receive crossover benefits.
Members of Emirates Skywards Gold, Platinum and Silver can earn one mile per every US dollar that is spent on eligible stays at hotels and resorts belonging to Marriott Bonvoy all over the world.
Members of Marriott Bonvoy’s Ambassador Elite, Gold Elite, Platinum Elite and Titanium Elite can earn three points with every US dollar spent on eligible flights with Emirates.
This is in addition to Skywards Miles.
Skywards Gold, Platinum and Silver members can also earn one mile for every purchase made over AED100 in the Dubai Mall.
The Dubai Mall is Dubai’s largest mall and the biggest of its type anywhere in the world.
Skywards Miles can also be bought from Emirates at a price of three cents per mile.
It is crucial to be aware of the fact that points.com is responsible for handling these transactions.
This means that the purchases do not earn additional miles for Skywards credit cards.
It is also a good idea to look out for promotions.
